Visma wins another large contract

Through its subsidiary SpecTec Inc in Miami, the Visma Group has signed a contract with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL) for the delivery of Amos software for maintenance and purchasing for the company's cruise liners. The contract has a total value of USD 2 million, of which software represents about USD 1 million.
RCCL chose Amos from Visma Marine because of the product's potential for helping to maintain and strengthen the company's competitive position.
The project involves the delivery and installation of Amos software solutions for offices and on board all RCCL's ships. RCCL operates two cruise companies, Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises. Both of the companies, which have a total of 19 ships, will have the Amos system installed.

The RCCL contract will be implemented in three phases. In Phase 1, Visma's maintenance and purchasing system, Amos for Windows, will be installed in the company's offices in Miami and on board 'Sovereign of the Seas'.
In Phase 2, Visma will install Amos on 11 cruise ships, at the headquarters and offices owned by RCCL on two Caribbean islands. Two Eagle-type newbuildings (with an option on a third) will have Amos installed during Phase 3.
Alexandra Anagnostis, the director of Royal Caribbean's technical purchasing division, explains: As a result of the growth of the fleet, we want to apply modern technology that not only reduces costs, but becomes essential for us to maintain our competitive position. We are sure that Amos for Windows, linked with our existing software, will provide a total solution for our shipping company.
Amos for Windows was chosen from a number of suppliers offering high-quality products. We were not only impressed with Visma's software, but also with their vast expertise regarding the shipping industry in general and cruise operations in particular. For a project of this size and complexity, it is necessary to work together with a company that has achieved a position as market leader in this field, adds Royal Caribbean's operations manager, Mikael Backman.
During the project, Visma's subsidiary SpecTec Inc in Miami will supply software, project management and technical service, while SpecTec A/S in Oslo, along with other central SpecTec offices, will provide training for officers. Worldwide technical service will provide the client with the security of 24-hour service when and where it is needed.
The director of Visma's Marine Division, Jarle Dragvik, concludes: We are glad that, once again, we have been chosen by a leading cruise line. Large contracts like this one represent a challenge, and we look forward to starting the project so that the shipping company can achieve quantifiable results. This contract reinforces Visma's definitive position as the world's largest supplier of computer-based purchasing and maintenance systems for the cruise fleet and the rest of the fleet.

The CEO of the Visma Group, ystein Moan, comments: For Visma, RCCL is a very important customer. Visma already has a very strong position in the cruise industry, with other leading cruise lines such as Carnival Cruise and Kloster Cruise as customers. With the order from RCCL, Visma Marine Division has achieved an excellent order reserve for 1998. We would like to congratulate SpecTec in Miami and Oslo with the excellent work that led up to their selection by RCCL.
