Data warehouse Advisor
The development team at the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway consists of only a few people, and it was desirable to strengthen the employees competence through a learning by doing approach. At the same time, they wanted assistance to kick-start the process, and to ensure that the solution followed best practices and had a long-term perspective.
The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway therefore chose to hire Visma’s expert in data warehousing, Terje Knappen. In this case a flexible agreement was the right choice, and they received assistance and advice when needed.
The partnership started off with a workshop in best practices for building data warehouses, and training in the TimeXtender tool. From this point, the IT-manager and Coordinator Kolbjørn Reppen could work independently together with his colleague Osmund Grov who is an architect and project manager, both at the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway. While working on this project they would gather challenges and questions for the next meeting with their strategic sparring partner Terje Knappen.
This delivery model is absolutely optimal for a small team like ours. Where we do a lot on our own, but have the possibility to bring in cutting-edge expertise in specific cases. This has worked very well in this kind of build-up phase that we have been through now.
- Kolbjørn Reppen, IT Manager at Petroleum Safety Authority Norway
