Office chain becomes new dealer for Visma Business

Visma's New Dimension and current solutions convinced Office

Visma Business ASA has won a new round in distributing its financial management systems. The Office chain assessed a number of candidates before choosing Visma Business as a new supplier. To tempt Office, Visma Business lifted the veil for the first time on its system for the next generation, code-named New Dimension. A total evaluation of this and the existing solutions offered by Visma Business formed the basis for Office's choice.

In February, SuperOffice ASA acquired the Office chain from Scribona AB. The Office chain will be listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in October after its demerger from SuperOffice ASA. SuperOffice is now in the process of building up a network of IT dealers through Office. After Odd Nymark and Bjrn Ingier - the managing directors of Office and Visma Business respectively - signed the contract yesterday, it is now clear that the Office chain will become a large Visma dealer.

We will achieve distribution in areas of Norway that are new to us. We will also strengthen our position in areas where we already have dealers. In addition, through the agreement with the Office chain, we will gain a foothold in new regions as the chain grows. For these reasons the agreement is very important to us, says managing director Bjrn Ingier in Visma Business ASA.

We carried out a full assessment of software and support services from various suppliers before we chose Visma Business. The market is constantly demanding new functionality, and we feel confident that Visma Business can fulfil this need now and in the future, says Odd Nymark, managing director of the Office chain.

During the negotiations, the Office chain was allowed to see the development work involved in New Dimension the next-generation financial management system from Visma Business. The key concepts of New Dimension are its great flexibility and the ease with which it can be integrated with other systems. The financial management system will be component-based - that is, the software will consist of many independent components to suit the customer's needs. This provides for a highly flexible selection of functions. It will also be possible to place the software components on different machines to ensure maximal exploitation of computer power in a network. Program-to-program communication is another essential feature of the solution, enabling New Dimension to communicate more directly with other solutions. This eliminates sources of errors and optimizes the use of the software.

Visma Business ASA is a wholly owned subsidiary of VISMA ASA. In 1998 sales for the division totalled NOK 118 million; it invested NOK 35 million in development, and had 100 employees - including Norwegian and Swedish distribution subsidiaries. Visma's Business division is Norway's largest supplier of financial systems for small and medium-sized enterprises. Visma Business (which is also the name of the company's Windows-based system) today has international operations through subsidiaries, distributors and OEM agreements in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, Thailand and USA.
