Weoptit, a Finland-based Visma company, becomes a Gurobi Optimization Premier Consulting Partner

Weoptit is the first company in the Nordics to achieve the distinction.

Acquired by Visma in 2018, Weoptit is a Finnish provider of optimization solutions, known for its innovations in route optimization, logistics, planning and scheduling, among others. Gurobi Optimization produces the world’s fastest and most powerful mathematical optimization solver – the Gurobi Optimizer – which is used by leading global companies across more than 40 different industries to rapidly solve their complex, real-world problems and make automated decisions that optimize their efficiency and profitability. As a Gurobi Premier Consulting Partner, Weoptit will be able to help its customers implement and utilise Gurobi’s solver in their optimization applications more effectively.

Visma has made efforts to enhance its AI and optimization offering – as this has become a high-priority area for the company. The combination of Weoptit’s expertise and Visma’s existing AI competencies, customer base, and complementary solutions has enabled Visma to solve complex business challenges for customers.

“The partnership highlights the deep expertise of Weoptit. We use Gurobi because, for us, the quality of the results is everything. An improvement of just a few percentage points in the results and the speed of the optimization may lead to cost savings of millions of euros for our customers,” says Joonas Ollila, Weoptit’s CEO.

Optimization technology is especially useful in addressing operational planning problems such as staff rostering, timetabling, production scheduling, and vehicle routing. In these types of problems, the number of variables as well as factors to be considered is astronomical – which makes these problems extremely challenging. With a state-of-the-art optimization solver, such as the Gurobi Optimizer, the computer's ability to support people in complex planning tasks is taken to a whole new level. Whereas traditional software can only review and score plans created by humans, the new generation of optimization software is capable of prescriptive analytics, which means that the software suggests optimized plans that take all relevant business objectives and constraints into account.
