How to subscribe contacts to new email groups

There are two ways you can subscribe contacts to new email groups in Eloqua; by manual list upload or subscription via processing steps in forms.

1. Manual list upload

Before the EU privacy law comes into effect you can subscribe existing contacts to the relevant new email groups based on which product they have or their existing email groups. You can do this manually by uploading lists in Eloqua. E.g. Visma Payroll customers should be subscribed to the HR & Payroll email group. If they are currently subscribed to a "Business Development" email group as well, then you can subscribe them to this group too.

You can subscribe contacts manually before or while you are collecting consent. Those contacts who have not given consent by 25th of May 2018 will have to be deleted.

Please note that you cannot subscribe contacts manually after 25th of May 2018 when the new EU privacy law comes into effect.

See our guide for how to upload lists and subscribe contacts to new email groups in Eloqua.

2. Processing steps in forms

Contacts should be subscribed to the relevant new email group when submitting a form (if they have consented to receiving marketing communication). E.g. if they have downloaded content on accounting then they should automatically be subscribed to the email group "Finance & Accounting".

See this guide on how to subscribe contacts automatically in Eloqua forms.

NB. Remember to update your email footer with link to the new subscription management page for your country. Also remember to select the new relevant email group when creating new emails.
