Why Cyber Security Month matters more than ever

It’s that time of year again! Every October, we participate in Cyber Security Month and, this year, we’re doubling down on efforts to stop cyber attacks before they happen.

In 2023, the digital world continues to be a place where we live, work, and play…but it’s also a place where cyber threats are on the rise. The need for cybersecurity has never been more critical, which is why we’re excited to participate in Cyber Security Month once again. For the month of October, we join organisations around the world in spreading awareness, education, and helping individuals and businesses understand the importance of online security.

This campaign encourages everyone to take cybersecurity seriously, promoting responsible online behaviour and creating a safer digital environment for all. By participating this month and putting everything we learn into practice year-round, we can better protect ourselves, our businesses, and our communities from cyber threats.

“Prevention is better than cure”

Those words may not have been written with security in mind, but they really ring true! Many individuals and businesses still underestimate the risks they face online. So, we take every opportunity to remind people that security isn’t something to be taken lightly. When we invest in cybersecurity measures and practise safe online behaviours, we can prevent many cyber incidents before they happen.

Our efforts to boost awareness within Visma

Throughout the month, we’ll have an extra focus on empowering our employees to become more responsible digital citizens. A few of our internal security initiatives will include:

  • An e-learning course on how to recognise phishing attempts, secure passwords, and keep all devices up-to-date with the latest security updates.
  • Company-wide reminders that cybersecurity is not just an IT issue but a business-critical concern that involves every employee.
  • Knowledge-sharing events and workshops where people can share best practices, lessons learned, and work collectively to strengthen our cybersecurity efforts.
  • Posters (both print and digital) and other visual materials placed in high-traffic areas around our offices to serve as both reminders and conversation starters.

Our goal is to promote continuous learning about cybersecurity – and have a little fun along the way. By making these resources available to everyone, in dozens of touchpoints, we’re giving employees the opportunity to level-up their cybersecurity knowledge and tweak their online habits.

Don’t forget…

Stay vigilant, think before you click, and be safe out there. Together, we can create a safer digital environment in 2023 and beyond!
