Deepening Visma's compliance software platform in Brazil and adding specialist capabilities ahead of the country's landmark tax reform.
Visma, a global provider of mission-critical business software, today announces the acquisition of Dootax and Pag Útil, two Brazilian SaaS companies that together deliver an integrated platform for tax automation and payment orchestration.
Dootax is a fiscal automation platform purpose-built for Brazil's complex tax system. Its solution eliminates time-consuming manual tax routines for small and mid-sized businesses, covering tax payments, certificate management, electronic fiscal mailbox monitoring, invoice issuance and storage, and compliance task management - all in one place.
Pag Útil complements this with a payment platform that automates tax payments. The platform centralises federal, state and municipal tax payments, boletos (bank tickets), utility bills and batch, with automatic reconciliation and receipt generation.
Built for Brazil's new tax reality
Businesses in Brazil are entering a period of increasing compliance complexity, with a proposed constitutional tax reform that will consolidate five existing taxes into a dual VAT system over a seven-year transition. Dootax and Pag Útil have spent years building infrastructure specifically designed for Brazil's regulatory environment, positioning them well to support customers through the transition.
"Brazil is undergoing a major tax transformation, and businesses need partners they can rely on to manage that complexity," said Steffen Torp, Chief Commercial Officer of Visma. "Dootax and Pag Útil have built highly complementary, mission-critical capabilities in tax automation and payment execution. We are very pleased to welcome both teams to the Visma family as we build a truly differentiated offering in the Brazilian market.”
Deepening Visma's coverage of the Brazilian market
The acquisition is the third step in Visma's growing commitment to Brazil’s business market, following the acquisition of Conta Azul and MaisMei in the last 12 months. With Dootax and Pag Útil, Visma adds specialist tax automation that extends the reach of its Brazilian portfolio into the SMB and mid-market segments, where compliance demands are greatest and the impact of the tax reform will be most acute. The closing of the acquisition of Pag Útil remains subject to the usual conditions precedent, including regulatory approvals by the Brazilian Central Bank.
"For Dootax and Pag Útil, joining Visma is the recognition of everything we have built in Brazil — and the starting point to build something even greater together. This move gives rise to something unprecedented: a single platform that connects the tax world to the financial world end-to-end. It is the right technological response at the right moment," said Yvon Gaillard, CEO of Dootax, and Marian Canteiro, CEO of Pag Útil.
