Scaling tech, reducing emissions

Using double materiality to guide our strategy, we focus our environmental efforts on climate change. We aim to reduce our footprint by decarbonising our operations and making our offices and data centres more energy-efficient.

Key environmental highlights 2025

Share of renewable energy

2030 target: 100%

Renewable energy

We have reached 78.4% certified renewable electricity across our offices and data centres, up from 57.5% in 2024.

Absolute scope 1 and 2 reduction (tCO2e)

2030 target: -50% vs. 2022

Scope 1 and 2 emissions

We have achieved a 37.8% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and market-based Scope 2 emissions compared to our 2022 baseline.

Hardware emissions reduction (tCO2e)

2030 target: -20% vs. 2022

Hardware footprint

We have reduced hardware emissions by 4.1% from our 2022 baseline, gaining ground towards our 20% reduction target for 2030.

Digital efficiency
and GreenOps

Technology is our greatest enabler, but our digital footprint has a real-world environmental impact. This is why we have introduced a GreenOps approach, where we merge cloud resource efficiency with environmental responsibility.

Optimising our software code and cloud infrastructure allows us not only to reduce cost via FinOps, but actively decouple our technological growth from emissions.

⏵ Environment focused development

We provide our architects and developers with guidance to integrate sustainability into every stage of the software development lifecycle. The Sustainable Engineering Playbook offers actionable strategies for green coding, such as reducing “software bloat” and optimising ode to minimise energy-intensive compute.

⏵ Cloud partnerships

We leverage the energy-effiency gains of our Public Cloud providers, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. These partnerships allow us to scale resources in real-time while supporting out climate goals through their us of certiifed renewable energy.

Responsible AI

Learn how we are leading the AI transformation responsibly, with core principles for environmental efficiency, data privacy and security, bias reduction, and more.

Reducing our operational footprint

We strive to create energy-efficient workplaces and reduce the environmental impact of our business activities, focusing on the offices we work in, the hardware we use, and the ways we travel.

⏵ Green offices

We improve energy efficiency by consolidating operations into modern shared offices and investing in upgrades like smart climate controls. We share best practices across our companies to scale property management effectively.

⏵ Sustainable travel

We employ a "rail-first" policy for short-haul trips and promote virtual collaboration for meetings to reduce travel-related emissions. When flying is unavoidable, we prioritise direct flights, multi-purpose trips, and economy class to keep the footprint of each journey as low as possible.

⏵ Hardware emissions

By prolonging device lifecycles and following the waste hierarchy (refuse, reuse, recycle), we are reducing emissions from IT equipment such as laptops and smartphones. Our progress is driven by internal initiatives that incentivise employees to keep their devices for longer.

Software for sustainability

Many of our core accounting and business products now offer functionality for tracking environmental footprints and sustainability reporting. This makes it easier for businesses to measure, report, and reduce their environmental impact while meeting sustainability goals.
