Entrepreneurship is about solving real problems
“Most entrepreneurs are experts in their field, but not in running a business,” François explains. “We built Evoliz to translate that complexity into something anyone can use. We’re not replacing accountants, but we remove friction so business owners can focus on what they do best.”
He adds that the inspiration came from his own experiences. Early on, he realised that people weren’t struggling with ambition. In fact, they were struggling with administration. “Entrepreneurship isn’t just about building a product, it’s about solving a real problem that affects people’s daily lives.”
The challenge of letting go
Growth brought a new challenge: moving from doing everything yourself to trusting others. “At first, you manage every detail yourself, such as sales, marketing, even finance. But scaling requires delegation,” François says.
“Hiring people who are better than you in their fields, and letting them do things differently is essential.” He emphasises that learning to step back is not a weakness but a vital skill. “The goal is to build a company that can thrive without you being involved in every single task. That’s when the organisation becomes truly scalable.”
AI and faster iteration
Artificial intelligence has transformed the way Evoliz develops its products. “Prototyping and testing is faster than ever,” François explains. “The time between an idea and actual user feedback has been drastically reduced. We can iterate continuously, improving the product in real time.”
AI also plays a role in customer interactions, automating repetitive tasks and freeing human teams to focus where they bring the most value. For François, technology is a tool, but the mission remains the same: make business management accessible to everyone, no matter their accounting knowledge.
Joining Visma without losing identity
In 2025, Evoliz joined Visma, but François was clear about one condition: preserving the company’s DNA. “Visma allows us to remain independent while benefiting from resources and expertise,” he says. “We continue to make our own decisions, lead our teams, and serve our users in the way we believe is best.”
The decision wasn’t taken lightly. The discussions took time, ensuring that cultural fit and long-term vision aligned perfectly. “The key lesson is that an acquisition can accelerate growth without diluting identity, if you choose the right partner. And we did!”
Advice to the next generation
When asked what advice he would give his younger self, François is decisive: “Build substance before speed. It’s tempting to move fast, especially when investors or potential buyers show interest. But having a solid product-market fit changes every conversation.”
He also stresses the importance of transparency. “Being open with your team, partners, and investors builds trust. And trust is the foundation for scaling, partnerships, and eventual acquisitions. Never underestimate that.”
Making SaaS accessible
At its core, Evoliz is not just a software company, it’s a mission. “We empower people to run their business without being bogged down by administration. That’s what entrepreneurship is really about: focusing on your strengths and letting technology handle the rest,” François concludes.
For him, the success of Evoliz isn’t measured in growth metrics alone, but in the daily relief and clarity it brings to entrepreneurs who can finally focus on what they love, which is building their business.
