Inside the world’s largest humanitarian warehouse: UNICEF Supply Division

Sustainability

In a world where multiple crises often unfold simultaneously, the ability to respond instantly is the difference between life and death. Through our partnership with UNICEF, we recently had the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the UNICEF Supply Division in Copenhagen - the global engine of humanitarian aid - to see how professional logistics turn support into survival.

The 72-hour promise

The Supply Division is not just a warehouse; it is a high-tech nerve center for global survival. It is the heart of a logistical operation that ensures life-saving supplies can reach a child in a crisis zone within 72 hours of an emergency.

For a company like Visma, which lives and breathes efficiency, seeing this level of operational excellence is inspiring. A key part of our commitment, including our 2025 holiday donation, is directed toward flexible funding like the Global Humanitarian Thematic Fund. This allows UNICEF to release vital resources in as little as 24 hours, ensuring that financial agility and physical logistics work together seamlessly.

– At Visma, we are driven by the power of efficient systems. Seeing UNICEF apply that same mindset of optimization to deliver life-saving aid within a 72-hour window is deeply inspiring. We are proud to support a global engine that operates with such incredible speed and precision when it matters most, says Henny Hasselknippe Dahl-Hansen, UNICEF partnership owner at Visma.

Precision-tested survival

Just as we stress-test our systems to ensure they perform under pressure, UNICEF meticulously tests every item shipped from Copenhagen to withstand the harshest environments on earth. While the warehouse stores thousands of different products tailored for every possible need, these are just a few examples of the life-saving supplies ready for dispatch:

  • Health and nutrition: Life-saving vaccines and therapeutic food for malnourished children.
  • Education and play: The famous "School-in-a-Box" and kits that allow children to learn and remain children, even in the middle of a conflict.
  • Dignity and safety: Water purification tablets and sanitation kits, providing private and safe spaces for women and girls.

Why this partnership matters

For Visma, taking social responsibility means investing in systems that work. The partnership with UNICEF is built on the belief that efficiency saves lives. By combining financial support with technical expertise - where Visma provides software to help UNICEF Norway improve its operational efficiency - the gap between a warehouse shelf, such as those inside the UNICEF Supply Division, and a child in need is shortened.

There is a deep sense of collective pride in supporting a program that is so concrete, so professional, and so effective. Knowing that the daily work at Visma indirectly supports a global network capable of delivering hope within days is a powerful motivator.

Together, a safer and healthier future for children worldwide is being built, one shipment at a time.
